Slow Days

Thats how I feel

These last couple of days have been a low point. I've been tired before but this is on a whole other level. The day after the bike show I did absolutely nothing. There was a small glimmer of hope in the morning where I ALMOST got up for a run but one look outside and I was crushed. More snow. Like clockwork, it snows everytime I have a long run. Every. Time.

Sunday was the ultimate couch potatoe marathon. 12hrs of True Blood Season 2.  I didn't budge from the couch, I sat there all day long. Luckily the wife didn't do groceries because I probably would have stuffed my face the entire time too.

What Monday Looked like for me

That brings us to Monday. I took the day off work. I felt like someone had taken a baseball bat to my body. This wasn't sore muscles, this was extremely tight stiff everything. My whole body ached and I tried to stretch but nothing would give. I wonder if I'm ill. I have a sore throat, definitely from the bike show yelling over all the noise and talking to people all day but this could be turning into a cold? I don't know. I also figured sitting on the couch for an entire day didn't help either, so as punishment I went for that missed long run. That was a really tough, slow run. I felt like I was learning to run all over again, my pace was a good minute slower and I felt like an old man. I didn't even loosen up by the end, it just got tougher and tougher. No stretching helped, my muscles seized right up. I passed out when I got home, took an extremely deep power nap. I didn't feel better when I woke up, just more dizzy, disoriented and drained. The worst is I have endless pains in my calves and my left thigh.

Oh well, it will pass eventually. I need the warm weather to show as soon as possible. I can't stand another snow run, and I'm at my limit of indoor bike trainer. Talk about a mental drain.

  1. Drink a lot of fluids. I will put down a gallon of OJ over the course of a day when I feel fluish and I kick it in a day (every time).

so I have to ask this question. WHY THE HELL DON'T YOU SWITCH YOUR LONG RUN DAYS?! My goodness, so many people stick to the damn plan so strict that they end up doing every long run IN THE SNOW!

Seems simple. Do your long run on a nice day and shuffle the workouts.

    DUH!

    Hope you feel better man.

  2. Sounds like you are a little burnt out which would be inline with the crazy running training you've been doing.

Take a few days off everything, no swim/bike/run/yoga/jerking off, you won't lose any fitness and then scale things back a bit leading up to ATB.
