First Morning

That was the toughest swim to date. I pushed just hard enough to raise the heartrate out of the comfort zone, but held back just enough to stay aerobic. That is how I justified cutting my swim short. I figured I should get my workout done as soon as possible and get home to bed to help increase the chances of me actually getting out of bed in the morning for an early workout. I wrapped my swim up early and hit the sauna. That didn't go as planned though since I got carried away with a conversation with a couple of woman that plan to do their first half-Iron this summer. I like hearing about other people's stories. I would rather listen to a complete noob or an amateur triathlete share there stories over hearing a pro athlete's stories. Noobs tend to have more excitement in there voice when sharing stores and it's inspiring and fun to see other's struggling along the same path as myself. We talked for waaay too long. I wanted to cut the conversation short because I couldn't breath the hot air in the sauna anymore. I think that's the longest I've sat in the sauna to date.  Needless to say, I didn't get home early like I had planned.
I don't remember how, but somehow I didn't get to bed early either. Before I knew it, it was past 11:30pm and I had hoped to be in bed by 9:30pm. So much for that early morning workout!

I cranked the thermostat, wore socks to bed and layed out my workout clothes in the hopes that it would increase the chances of me getting out of bed. It was very late at night but I still had a glimmer of hope.
I slept like a baby. A very deep sleep. I was to tired from a hectic weekend and the water in my ears from a gruelling swim helps me sleep at night. I was out like a light.
So when the alarm went off, I felt prety fresh considering the time of day. I think the toughest part was the 'cold' but I can hardly complain as that is the warmest morning to date. I think wearing socks to bed helped the most. I only hit the snooze button once, and then I got out of bed we just went through the motions. I thought back to Training Payne's "Just go through the motions and you will succeed" mantra. I took the battles on one at a time. Just get my slipper on. Just brush my teeth. Just shave. I just concentrated on the task at hand and ignored the looming workout that was coming upon me. By the time I made it to the trainer I was awake enough that I didn't feel sick to my stomach. I hit play on my playlist of you-tube videos and spun the cranks. It felt like 5pm at night. I was wide awake and going through the motions without the slightest bit of regret. It didn't seem so hard after that. I just got easier and more enjoyable.

By the end of the workout, I was warm. I've been warm all morning. My body is recovering from a moderate spin session and the cold house and subzero temperatures outside hardly bothers me. I am alot more awake and alert than usual. I don't even feel tired. Obviously I won't feel this way later in the day but there is a noticable improvement on how I feel this morning. This feels great!

Now the next battle - my evening run. Tuesdays and Thursday are the suck. Early morning bike, coupled with evening run. I hope I can still muster up the courage to brave the cold. I think it's the coldest evening to date. I just need to make it through this run. Mondays and Wednesdays are relatively easy days. I can 'recover' a bit tomorrow. Just. Get. The. Run. Done.

Then pass out from exhaustion.

I ate a horribly greasy bacon covered pizza for lunch. I regret it. That's my confession for the day. Errr.. I hope thats my ONLY coffession for the day. It's not over!

This was me sleeping last night. Dreaming of training:
